Writing has always been a lifelong dream.
A few years ago, I ventured into the world of Western Fiction. I am honored to have a great team: Dusty Saddles Publishing, Nick Wale - Publicist, and Katrina Turner - Social Media Guru. Currently, I have several Western Series on Amazon: Chet Henderson: Texas Ranger Adventure Series, Bear Willis: Mountain Man Series, and Willie McGee: Mountain Man Series.
I am also the recipient of the 2023 Robert Hanlon Award for excellence in Western Storytelling.
I have also been chosen to co-authored books with some of the top Western Authors. Last year my talented granddaughter and I also co-authored two novels "Willie McGee and the Great Western" and "Fearless: Twenty-five Fearless Frontier Women.". In creating my Westerns, I wanted to do three things, be authentic, create likable characters, and tell a good story. With a lot of hard work and prayer, my books have been well received, so I must be doing something right.
The exciting second part of a Western adventure from Peter Alan Turner!
If the homesteaders thought the first half of the Oregon Trail was hard, the trek over the mountains would test even Bear's great strength and courage. At Fort Laramie, Bear agrees to allow a man and woman to join the wagon train. However, when the couple turns out to be outlaws, the wagon train is in danger.
Bear, his son Eric, and Bear's wife Waity must cope with natural disasters, sickness, and starvation. In addition, a deadly killer and renegade Indians threaten to turn a difficult journey into a life-and-death struggle as they attempt to cross the Rockies before the winter storms.
It’s late spring, and the Green River Fur Trader Rendezvous is history. Like most other mountain men, Bear and his son Eric know that the beaver trade is over. So looking for work, Bear and Eric sign on as guides and hunters for a wagon train heading for Oregon. Right from the start, things go wrong. Then, events worsen when a con man named Heck Green joins the wagon train. Bear is forced to take command when the wagon master is killed. Now Bear and his son Eric must battle the elements, a scheming Green, and one disaster after another.
However, when a jealous younger woman threatens Eric’s marriage and his life, Bear must make a hard decision that nearly brings the wagons to a grinding halt. Will Eric’s new wife forgive him? Can Bear overcome all odds and keep the wagon train moving? Or will they all end up with their bones bleaching in the sun?
Western authors Peter Alan Turner and Paul L. Thompson have teamed up to write a fast-paced, action-filled Western Adventure featuring their most popular Western heroes!
Bear finds himself in a Mexican prison, framed for a murder he did not commit. When the warden hears that Bear has beaten four of his guards, he gives Bear a choice—wrestle in the upcoming wrestling competition or be shot by the firing squad.
Bear’s son Eric calls on Marshal Shorty Thompson for help. Knowing he’s putting his badge on the line by crossing the border, Shorty throws caution to the wind and rushes to help Bear. What follows is a no-holds-barred rescue of Bear Willis and the bringing to justice of two bad hombres, Bear and Shorty style!
Once again, the Ohio Valley is about to turn red with blood!
After returning from a long hunt, Zach Watkins finally sets his mind to tackle the many projects around the homestead. Meanwhile, his Mohican friend Henry Okweho signs on as a guide for an expedition to map the upper Ohio Valley. However, when Zach learns the expedition’s real purpose, he drops his ax and rushes to warn Henry.
After days of searching, Zach finds that the party has been killed, and Henry is now a slave of the Kickapoo Indians. To win Henry’s freedom, Zach agrees to complete several seemingly impossible tasks. Complicating matters is a beautiful Indian maiden. Her father, a Kickapoo chief, has arranged a marriage between his daughter and the son of a powerful Seneca chief. But the girl, who has been abused and raped by her fiance, has other plans when she falls in love with the unsuspecting Henry.
Now Zach must rescue his friend, save the maiden from a fate worse than death, and prevent conflict between the tribes and the settlers that would turn the valley red with blood!
Bear Willis: Savages & Scoundrels - Book 8
It’s 1840, and Bear, his son, and their two Irish wolfhounds travel to Green River, Wyoming, for the Spring Rendezvous. Along the way, grizzlies stampede their horses, and Bear’s party is forced to hide their furs and walk to the Rendezvous. Upon arriving, they find out that the fur trade has fallen on hard times. The demand for beaver and the price per pelt are at their lowest levels ever. All the trappers and mountain men who have depended on the beaver for a living are looking for other ways to earn money.
Bear sends Smokey, one of his friends, back to recover their furs. But when Smokey fails to return, what was supposed to be a pleasant trip turns into a deadly game. Bear rushes back to their camp only to find Smokey dead. While Bear is gone, the Carlos brothers show up with Bear’s pelts. Bear returns to the Rendezvous, only to learn that the Carlos brothers stole his pelts and killed Smokey. Bear swears revenge and, in a rage, leaves the Rendezvous, searching for his friend’s killers.
To complicate things, Bear’s son, Eric, has fallen for Sara, the daughter of Blake Andrews, the owner of a traveling brothel. When Eric learns Sara has run away, he rides off searching for her. Bear and Eric finally join forces and, together with their fierce Irish wolfhounds, fight savages and scoundrels, not knowing this would be their last Spring Rendezvous.
Zach Watkins: Bloody Ground Book Three
A new threat comes when Captain Franks and his Black Boys arrive. Franks claims that the land the settlers had settled on was owned by wealthy eastern investors. The settlers are given three choices: buy the land, pay rent or leave.
Soon the valley is in flames as Captain Franks and his men try to force the settlers off their land. When the homesteaders realize they’ll get no help from the governor, they elect Zach, Constable and charge Zach with driving Captain Franks out of the valley.
To complicate things, Waity announces she is pregnant. Zach promises he’ll be there for the birth of his child. However, when Zach is captured by the Hurons and sold as a slave to another tribe, Zach fears he’ll never see his wife and baby again. Now he must escape and travel back to Rollin’s Trading Post, stop Captain Franks’ harassment of the settlers, and still be there for the birth of his child.

The Bear is Back! The sixth book in my Bear Willis Series.
The sixth Mountain man adventure in a rip-roaring series from Peter Alan Turner! Mountain Man Bear Willis thought the wagon train he rescued from a Cheyenne war party were simply homesteaders looking to settle in the Montana Bitterroot Territory. He wasn't happy about pilgrims moving into the valley but realized there wasn't much he could do about it. However, when he discovers their real reason for choosing the Bitterroot, all hell breaks out. The big mountain man is used to settling things with a gun, knife, and tomahawk. However, things get complicated when Bear finds himself attracted to a pretty woman whose husband abuses her. As events reach a boiling point, Bear has to decide which side he is on. Will he side with the Shoshone, Cheyenne, and the other tribes? Or maybe the lure of gold and a woman's love is worth more than any loyalty he has to his Indian friends.

I enjoyed this series about the first mountain men to cross over the Appalachians. As a former teacher, I appreciate how the author can intertwine a great story with historical events. There's a review about the 3rd book being the same as the 2nd. But that's not the case. These are two completely different stories. The 2nd book dealt with the fur trade." Bloody Ground" is a story about land speculators trying to force homesteaders off their land.
“But, you don’t know me. I ain’t no sheriff, and I don’t know nothing about being a lawman.”
